This case comes from Dr, Hakan Çolak in Turkey, He graduated from the Marmara University School of Dentistry in 2008 and received PhD in 2013 from Restorative Dentistry. He has been published many papers at international dental journals. He has been acting as an Editor-in-Chief of European Journal of General Dentistry since 2012. His main interest area is Direct Restorations, CAD/CAM systems, Adhesive Ceramic Restorations and Endodontics. Currently he is working as private practitioner in Kocaeli Turkey.

• Case

A 42 year old female patient presented with a large amalgam restoration on the mandibular left first molar with lingual cusp fracture that was experiencing transient cold sensitivity, which were not persistent, along with sensitivity to sweets.

The recommended treatment was a conservative 3/4 ceramic crown restoration.

• Treatment Process

After amalgam restoration was fully removed decay on cavity floor and mesial and distal proximal sides was detected

Decay was carefully cleaned without plural exposure and optimized with highly filled flowable composite.

3/4 crown preparation was done in order to preserve as much tooth structure as possible

Scanned files imported to EXOCAD for further design
